Tuxedo Park School :: About Tuxedo Park :: TPS Grandparents
Hello TPS Grandparents

Welcome to our webpage designed just for you.  We encourage you to visit our website as well as our school.  We look forward to getting to know you whether you are new to our community or you have had grandchildren at TPS for many years!

While the most obvious Tuxedo Park School visiting day is Grandparents and Grandfriends Day on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we want you to know there are many other ways to become involved at Tuxedo Park School. Grandparents volunteer in the school library, visit classrooms, or come see grandchildren in action on stage, on the sports fields, or in one of our concerts. Please find a list of ways to be involved below.

Please refer to our website to stay informed about events and games, as well as to view current photos. News and new photos are published each week in the “Menuscript” and on the “Photo Gallery” page of the website. For  those of you brave enough to have established a Facebook page, you can “like” us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Tuxedoparkschool. We are excited to have so many convenient and interesting ways to share information about Tuxedo Park School especially with those grandparents and special friends who live far away.

We are lucky to have so many involved grandparents in our community. The wonderful exchange of knowledge and experiences between generations is one of life’s great pleasures. The door is always open to you at Tuxedo Park School, and we look forward to seeing you as often as possible throughout the year.

Sincerely,

Kathleen McNamara
Head of School

Join us for Lunch
Grandparents are always welcome to come and have lunch with their grandchild.  Students take great pride in introducing their special guests during lunch time announcements. No reservations needed!

Volunteer in the Library
The Vera Brigham library welcomes your help any time, any day! If you would like to volunteer at the check-out desk or help shelve books, please let us know.

Musical Performances
There is an abundance of music at Tuxedo Park School and nowhere is this celebration more apparent than at our annual concerts. Check out the calendar for concert dates in December and May and join us for a truly special experience.

Class Plays and Culture Studies
Tuxedo Park School has a tradition of integrating the arts with other classroom learning by developing performances based on history, poetry, nature, and different cultures. Each class in the primary school (grades Pre-K through 3) presents a delightful class program, which you are invited to attend.  Check out the calendar to find time and days of these wonderful performances.

Cheer on Your Athlete
Whether your grandchild plays soccer, field hockey, basketball, lacrosse, or runs cross country, grandparents of  upper school students (grades 7-9) can check the website to obtain a game schedule. Come out and cheer on your favorite athlete!

Classroom Visits
Do you have an interesting career, hobby, special talent, or travel experience to share with your grandchild’s class? Would you like to be a guest reader in your grandchild’s class? Grandparents are very popular guests at Tuxedo Park School, and we would love to have you visit.

Weekly Meetings
Each division (primary, middle and upper) meets once a week in the Davis Theater. This is a wonderful opportunity for a special speaker. If you have something to share with students – an interesting career, community service work, or travel experience – please let us know. We also hope you will feel free to just sit and enjoy our small community gathering each week.

Friday Afternoon Assembly
On most Fridays the entire School gathers for a special assembly. These range from class plays to Green and Gold “bees” to outside speakers and performances. This is a fun and exciting way for our students to end a week of hard work. We would love to have you join us.

Come Cheer on Your Grandchild on Field Day
The annual Green and Gold competition culminates each year on the third Saturday in May with Field Day on the front fields at TPS. Students in grades three through nine compete in athletic competitions to earn points for their teams. The ultimate event at field day is the Green vs. Gold tug-of-war. Students in Pre-K through grade two participate in relay races and games starting at 10am. After the events of the morning, all families and friends are welcome to come around back to enjoy a BBQ lunch.

Give to Tuxedo Park School
In our small school, every gift makes a big difference in the lives of children. The Annual Fund represents approximately 12% of the operating budget and is vital to enhancing educational opportunities in the current school year. Gifts of any size are helpful and greatly appreciated.Click here to make a gift to the Annual Fund. We also offer a planned giving program and would be happy to speak with you or your financial advisor about how a planned gift might make sense for you.

Please feel free to contact Venta Cantwell, Director of Development, at 845-351-4737 about getting involved at Tuxedo Park School. We’d love to hear from you. Thank you!
