Meet Our New Faculty: 2010-2011Five new faculty members have joined Tuxedo Park School for the 2010-2011 school year.
Nina AllbertNina Allbert earned her B.M. at Middle Tennessee State University, and her M.A.L.S. at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Her professional work includes: Music Department Chair of The Ensworth School in Nashville, TN, Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt University's education department, Director of Choral and Drama activities at Gideon Welles Middle School in Glastonbury, CT, and Director of Choral Activities at the University School of Nashville. She continued her vocal training in opera at the Manhattan School of Music. In addition to teaching she has performed extensively as an actress in Nashville,TN, and performed numerous roles at the Thomaston Opera House, in Thomaston, CT. As a soloist and section leader she has toured Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Coatia, Bosnia and Slovenia. In her free time, Nina travels,reads,cooks, performs whenever possible and enjoys riding a motorcycle with her husband.
Sarah DevineSarah Devine earned her bachelors degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard University. She is currently pursuing her masters degree in Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. For the past two years, she has been an assistant teacher in the sixth grade at New Canaan Country School in New Canaan, CT. In the summer, Sarah works as the waterfront director at YMCA Camp Huckins in Freedom, NH. She enjoys participating in many aquatic activities on Lake Ossipee, where the camp is located.
Chuck FontanaChuck Fontana earned a B.A. from Union College with a major in Classics and a minor in German. After having studied five years of Italian, he studied abroad in Florence, Italy to hone his skills in Italian and understand how Florentine art and architecture were influenced by the classical period. During his time at Union College, Chuck undertook a 500 page Latin-English translation of correspondences between Jesuit missionaries in Syria and the head priest in France during the 1600s, which culminated in his senior thesis. After graduating, Chuck spent five months in Cairo intensively studying both Egyptian colloquial and Modern Standard Arabic. In his free time, Chuck enjoys anything and everything athletic, ranging from baseball and football to ultimate frisbee, hiking and biking. He also dabbles in jazz saxophone.
Brian KoscuiszkaBrian Koscuiszka earned his B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Boston College and his M.A. in Educational Studies from Bank Street College. He worked for two years as an Assistant Teacher at the Corlears School in lower Manhattan, mentoring in a mixed-age 4/5's program. Upon completing his masters, he moved to the Lowell School of Washington, DC, where he developed and implemented a pilot Junior Kindergarten program for two years. He enjoys exercising, reading, sports, and conquering new "firsts," including this summer's first attempt at fly fishing, which consequently resulted in a headfirst plunge into Maine's Moosehead Lake.
Cristin O'ConnorCristin O’Connor earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a major in International Business and a minor in French from Loyola University in Maryland. She studied abroad for her entire junior year in Belgium, at the Katholiek Universitat de Leuven. There she studied European culture, history, art and business, and was introduced to the Dutch language. After graduation, Cristin worked in the financial sector, before returning to school to pursue her teacher’s certification in French education. She completed the Teacher Education Program at Ramapo College, and then worked for three years at Kittatinny Regional High School in Newton, NJ. During this time, she taught all levels of French, 7th through 12th grades, and completed her Master’s of Science in Educational Technology from Ramapo College. Cristin loves athletics, and has devoted many years to playing and coaching basketball. She also enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
