The Board of Trustees is the self-perpetuating group that defines the mission of the school and is entrusted with its well-being. It prepares a clear statement of the school’s philosophy and mission. The board hires the head of school and establishes the broad general policies under which the head will administer the school. The board maintains the financial viability of the school including supervision of all operating accounts and assets represented by the buildings, the grounds, and the endowment.
The board must consist of at least 15 members but cannot exceed 25. A trustee’s term of office is three years, and he/she may be re-elected for a second three-year term. The Board consists of current parents, alumni/ae, parents of alumni/ae, and community leaders. New trustees are nominated by the Committee on Trustees. Potential trustees have a strong record of support for the school and are committed to its future goals and policies.
