Music Education

Primary and Middle School

The beautiful sounds of children making music can be heard throughout the halls every day at Tuxedo Park School. Pre-K through Grade 5 students participate in general music classes, which incorporate singing, playing instruments, dancing, and acting. TPS students become musically literate through songs, games, and exploration using Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze pedagogy. Students in Grades 4 through 6 receive music education through their participation in Band or Chorus.

Electives-Upper School

Tuxedo Park School offers numerous elective courses, which students select as a second music-related course during each trimester. While these courses may include elements of music performance, they are alternatively designed to enhance student exploration and appreciation of varied musical topics.

In addition to band, chorus, and percussion ensemble, students can choose to participate in these performing arts electives:
Drama - In One Act
GarageBand
Glee
Gleeful
Jazz Rock Ensemble
Junkorkestra - Rhythmic Art Troupe
Musical Theater - School Musical Production
Music Theory
Theater Music Ensemble
Tropical Music Ensemble
